Kano Indigo Vessel by Orieji
In this Sahelian creation, Orieji replicates the Northern Nigerian city of Kano's centuries-old tradition of hand-dying cloth a deep indigo blue. One of her father's favourite shirts was made from a near identical hue of Kano cloth, which was the inspiration for this vessel.
As this CNN article highlights, this age-old tradition has dwindled greatly. However Orieji, through her adept ceramic abilities is keeping the concept behind the tradition alive.
All ceramics are non-toxic and food safe.
